Sizdeh Be Dar 2016 – سیزده بدر ۱۳۹۵

hou9665Kooh o Dasht Hiking group is inviting you and your family to its annual Sizdehbedar celebration at Seneca Creek State Park on Sunday, April 3 rd at 10:00 am. We reserved Bob White Pavilion with 50 person capacity. The shelter has picnic tables and a grill, and restroom facility and a playground nearby.  Seneca Creek Park has other activities such as hiking trails, boating, and fishing. Besides eating delicious food, backgammon, dodge ball, and other entertainment will be available.

There is a $3.00 fee per person to enter the park.

Savage Park, Laurel MD

photoThe hike for this Sunday Feb. 28th, will be at Savage Park, Laurel MD. This is an easy/moderate circuit hike and most of the trail will be along the Patuxent River. After the hike, there will be a potluck gathering at my house followed by watching one “Shab-haye Bokhara شبهای بخاراًً ” episode, by Mr. Ali Dehbashi.

Great Falls in Virginia

IMG_1567This Sunday’s hike will be at Great Falls in Virginia. We meet at 9:00 am at the parking lot on the left side of Route 193.  The approximate address is: 8801 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22102
The hike is approximately 6 miles and will take about 3 hours.Direction:
From 495 take exit 43-44 for VA-193/George Washington Memorial Parkway/Georgetown Pike toward Great Falls Virginia/Langley/Washington.  Then take exit 44 on the left to merge onto VA-193 W/Georgetown Pike toward Great Falls, VA.  From exit 44 to the parking lot will be about 3.5 miles.  Look for parking lot on the left before the park.

The weather forecast calls for a partly cloudy day with slight chance of showers in the morning.  High temperature is around 60 degrees.

Rock Creek Park, Washington DC

Gambrill State Park in Fredrick, Maryland

This Sunday February 7th hike will be at Gambrill State Park in Fredrick, Maryland.

Please note above address is for GPS getting you into the park and is not our meeting destination.
Direction: From I-270 N take Route 40 West at Fredrick, drive approximately 6 miles, turn right onto Gambrill Park Road and follow it approximately 1 mile to the park entrance
We meet at the park main trail heads in first gravel parking lot on the right side of the Gambrill Park Road.
Time: 9 AM
Hiking distance: 6-7 miles, moderate to difficult
Duration: 4-4:30 hours

Patapsco Valley State Park in Baltimore county

This Sunday Jan. 17th, we will hike at Patapsco Valley State Park in Baltimore county. This park has four different sections in Baltimore County and Howard County with many different hiking trails.

Longwood Gardens or C&O Canal tow path

Some from our hiking group are visiting the Longwood Gardens this Sunday.  For those who could not or chose not to go, an ‘easy’ hike is planned along the C&O Canal tow path.  The hike starts at 9:00 AM.  We meet at the parking lot across from the Old Angler’s Inn.  The address is 10801 MacArthur Blvd. Potomac, MD 20854.

The weather is expected to be sunny with highs around 50 degrees.

Dec 26/15 Sunday’s hike will be at the Cunningham falls State Park

3This Sunday’s hike will be at the Cunningham falls State Park. We will meet at 9:00 AM at the Visitor Center, 6602 Foxville Road in Thurmont  MD 21788.

It is a moderate hike with some hills and lasts about 4 hours.  Weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of rain and high temperatures around 72 degrees.
