The name is a combination of the Italian words for “black” and “bitter”. It is grown almost exclusively in Puglia’s hot summers. It is rustic in character with a deep red color. It is earthy and smoky on the nose with berries, licorice, and wood chips on the palate. Nice spice and acid. Overall it is fruity and spicy with intense flavors leading to a soft finish.
Served with: Bruschette di Pomodoro fresco e formaggio
This red wine is produced primarily from the Negroamaro grape. The wines from Salento are considered the best examples of wines made from Negroamaro. It is round and soft with a deep red color and has a delicate fragrance of wild berries.
Served with: Panini di prosciutto, melanzane alla griglia & formaggio
This classic, well-rounded, plum scented red is from Montepulciano grapes grown in the Abruzzo region on Italy’s Adriatic coast. Globally appreciated for their soft flavors, strong color and gentle tannins. It is brilliant garnet red in color and possesses slightly herbaceous aromas, including small fruits, cinnamon and cloves. Soft and well balanced on the palate.
Served with: Penne al boscaiolo (Penne with tomato and fresh vegetables)
Made from 100% Sangiovese, this wine has rich and dark aromas with lots of cherry and black raspberry fruit, licorice and spice. The wine is ripe, fresh, and fruit-driven with a wonderful dash of earthy complexity at the end.
Served with: Polpettini di manzo con pane e aglio (small meatballs with garlic bread)
Pinot Grigio is achieved by harvesting the grapes relatively early, which helps to retain the variety’s naturally high acidity. To retain freshness and ‘zing’, fermentation and storage typically take place in stainless-steel tanks.
Medium bodied with lovely aromas of citrus, it is crisp, light and fruity.
Served with: Cheese and fruit
